The Globe of Death is unique circus equipment where motorcyclists ride inside a sphere very often made of mesh. The whole idea is very similar to the Wheel of death, the only difference is usage of motorcycles and possibility to ride inside the sphere in any direction.

The most unique Globe of death was created and patented by Peter Mayazky, famous Soviet circus artist. In 1950th, Peter Mayazky created Globe of death with 7m in diameter, suspended at the height of 15 m. that opens in two parts in the air.

Motorcyclists ride inside at very high speed, making «eights» riding horizontally and vettically, and other dangerous tricks. This globe had two half spheres, the most dangerous part was when globe started to open while performer was at the top part of the sphere, riding his motorcycle at the edge of the globe.

This act was extremely popular in Soviet Union, In 1952 Globe of death received first prize at First Soveit union competition of young soviet artists.

On Jan.12 1963 he fell during the act and was seriously injured, right after 12 years in the same city his daughter and wife almost died in an accident during this act. After this, this particular suspended globe of death wasn’t used and there is no-one until this days who would be able to repeat such a dangerous tricks and unique act.

But some analogs of this globe is still exist, usually it is smaller versions but never suspended in the air.

Another record belongs to Czhech circus artists, when 15 person was right in the middle of the globe while motorcyclists riding at top speed around them for 3 minutes.

This is very dangerous act, and even in less difficult acts, there is have been three known show related fatal accidents recorded starting 1949 until 1997.

Globe of Death that was officially recognized by the Guinness world records is Varanne Infernal team with 6 riders and one person in the centre, during Lo Show Dei record in 2011 in Milan, Italy.

Another circus that widely promoted Globe of death is Ringling Brothers, for their circus show RIngling Brothers used specific name «Globe of Steel»

Another well known performers is Leo Garcia from Garcia Family. He designed and built first horizontal triple splitting globe of death in 2006. How globe lifts on 5 feet above the ground and separates into 3 sections while Leo and his team ride on the centre part with a gap underneath, also during that trick, the whole sphere lifts around 23 feet high.

Another interesting example is the youngest motorcycle rider, his name is Garcia Maximus, he was 4 years and six month in August 16, 2006, when he did stunts inside of the globe.

The biggest globe of death was build in Lithuania it was 12meters in diameter (39ft). There is a lot of amazing circus performers around the globe, here is few of them: Arthur Rosenthal, Guido Consi, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clark, Mendoza family from Australia, many Russian artists as well.
