Despite Stratford Circus Arts Centre being a much-loved, sustainable and very successful engages around 145 thousand people annually, Rokhsana Fiaz , the Mayor of Newham, decided to replace it with new Youth Zone. Stratford Circus Arts Centre received a demand to leave the building by 6th ofApril 2020. The closure will mean the loss of a successful and financially sound cultural and community organisation that has operated the building for nearly a decade. Last year alone Stratford Circus generated £1.58m, which is reinvested to deliver our wide-ranging programme. Stratford Circus Arts Centre already reached 10 thousand young people annually and are keen to build on this and help more young people by working with the Mayor as a delivery partner, rather than be forced to close. Until recently, Stratford Circus Arts Centre were in discussion with the Mayor on how to co-locate with a Youth Zone in the same building – opening up facilities and creative opportunities to more young people than ever before. If the Mayor’s plan goes ahead, people of all generations in the borough would lose a much-loved, well-used resource. Stratford Circus Arts Centre is proud to work with all areas of the community and closure would mean the loss of arts and cultural activities for older adults, families, disabled people and schools who benefit from year-round programme of world-class performances and creative learning opportunities.
